The NCAIM offers a service to identify strains of yeasts and selected groups of bacteria and filamentous fungi. Isolates usually will be identified using bar-coding DNA sequences. Please contact us for details.
Strains submitted for identification should be pure and sent on agar slants. Cultures invaded by mites are destroyed immediately on arrival to avoid infestation of other cultures. Please indicate the source of isolation, conditions for cultivation and any other data that might be helpful for a fast and correct identification.
Please state whether your culture should be destroyed after identification or is free for inclusion in the collection and distribution to other parties.
Please ensure that the cultures are well packed to avoid breakage of the tubes. Microbes should be packed according to the international regulations. Please be aware that NCAIM does not accept any strainclassified higher than BSL 2! Label your parcel: "MICROBIOL CULTURE, NO COMMERCIAL VALUE" .
Confidentiality: NCAIM will carry out the identifications on a strict confidential base. Strains sent for identification will be destroyed after completing the investigations. However, your strains might be of interest for our culture collection but prior to inclusion in our collection your approval will be specifically requested.
