Notes and applications

Genome sequencing strain. Contains temperature-sensitive plasmid (Watson B, et al. Plasmid required for virulence of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. J. Bacteriol. 123: 255-264, 1975) Plasmid fingerprints (Sciaky D, et al. Fingerprints of Agrobacterium Ti plasmids. Plasmid 1: 238-253, 1978.)
16S sequence shows only 97% similarity to the sequence of Rhizobium radiobacter. Lassalle and co-workers recently showed that the strain represents a new species and suggested the name Agrobacterium fabrum. However, no formal species description was proposed.
